Challengers League 2025: Round 1

Round 1:

Challengers League 2025 will be the Inaugural Australian Sailing Squadron Event! The Challengers League will be a multi-round competition throughout the year which will lead up to the penultimate Grand Final event.

The date for the event is yet to be announced, however the target is Late January to Early February. The event will be raced in Elliot 7s chartered to competitors and depending on the number of entries the event will be 1 or 2 days long.

Key Information:

  • 1 to 2 Day Event
  • Elliot 7
  • Late January/Early February
  • Fleet Racing
  • Youth & Open
  • Pittwater/Sydney (TBD)

The entry fee will be $350 plus any costs associated with chartering or using the Elliot 7. This entry fee will be used as prize money so the more entries into the regatta the higher the prizes!

The event will be solely run and organised by the Australian Sailing Squadron and not a physical yacht club therefore we will be making the course almost autonomous with the goal of the future to have the racing fully automated. Mark Set Bot will be key sponsor in the event and be running all the marks and course adjustments.

Racing will be short and intense with a focus on enjoyment for sailors and also spectators so this means short courses and lots of action! With there being no physical club involved with this event the presentation for the winners will be held on the water in the first of its kind.

Ongoing Events will be throughout the year as additional rounds of the Challengers League. Every teams points will be tallied from each event and added up to determine the entrants for the Grand Final event which will have a sum % of all entry fees from all past events to create a very large prize pool.

Stay tuned for more information regarding this event and for when entries open.
